How does Mariage work?
Scan your restaurant's menu with your phone camera — food, wine list, cocktails, whatever they have. Mariage reads the menu using AI, then you pick the dishes you're ordering. Within seconds, you get a sommelier-style recommendation explaining exactly what to drink and why.
The whole thing takes less than 90 seconds at the table.
Do I need an account?
No, you can try Mariage a few times without signing up. If you'd like to save your pairings and wines, or use it regularly, you'll need an account.
Sign-in is passwordless — enter your email, we send you a 6-digit code, and you're in. No password to remember.
What menus can I scan?
Any menu you can photograph — food menus, wine lists, cocktail menus, digestif lists. Scan them all for the best results. If there's a separate dessert menu, you can scan that later when the time comes.
Multi-page menus work too. Scan each page separately and Mariage combines them automatically.
What if the scan doesn't work well?
Try photographing the menu in good light, with the camera held parallel to the page. Dark or candlelit restaurants can make this harder — increase your phone's brightness before scanning.
If a page fails, you can retry it without losing your other scanned pages. Very stylised or handwritten menus are sometimes harder for AI to read accurately.
Can I also choose my drinks first?
Yes. If you already know what you're drinking, scan the drinks list, pick your wine or cocktail, and Mariage will recommend the best food to go with it. It works both ways.
What about dessert?
After you get your mains pairings, tap "Ready for dessert?" to get a dedicated dessert pairing. If the restaurant has a separate dessert menu or digestif list, you can scan it at that point.
What's the Dinner Party feature?
No menu? No problem. The Dinner Party feature in the Mariage app lets you type in what you're cooking at home — starters, mains, desserts — and get wine recommendations for each course. No scanning needed.

How good are the recommendations?
Mariage uses Claude, Anthropic's AI, trained on a huge amount of culinary and sommelier knowledge. The recommendations follow classic pairing principles and come with a brief explanation of why each drink works.
They're AI suggestions — genuinely thoughtful ones, but always check availability with your server before ordering.
What does the pairing score mean?
Each pairing comes with a score out of 100 — a confidence rating for how well that wine or drink pairs with your dishes. Higher is a better match. It's not a rating of the wine's quality, just how well it works with what you've ordered.
What data does Mariage collect?
If you use Mariage without an account, we do not ask for your name or email address. We may use an anonymous usage ID to manage free usage limits, keep the app working, and understand basic app activity such as whether scans and pairing requests complete successfully.
If you create an account, we collect your email address, your first name if you choose to add it, your language preference, your purchase or subscription status where relevant, and the pairings, wines, restaurants, or evenings you choose to save.
Menu photos may be sent to our AI service so the menu can be read. We do not intentionally store menu photos. We also collect limited diagnostics and first-party analytics to fix bugs and improve reliability. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Do you track me for advertising?
No. We do not sell your data, we do not show personalised ads, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

Do crash reports include my menu or pairing?
We configure our diagnostics tools to avoid intentionally sending menu photos, full menu text, dish names, wine names, AI prompts, AI responses, saved pairing content, account emails, payment details, sign-in codes, or authentication tokens.
Crash reports are used to help us diagnose bugs and improve app reliability.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion from our Delete Account page, or email support@getmariage.app with "Account Deletion Request" in the subject line.
We will delete or anonymise your account data within 30 days, unless we need to keep limited information for legal, payment, tax, accounting, security, fraud prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons.
Is Mariage free?
Yes, for a limited number of pairings. Once you've used your free pairings, you'll need to buy credits or a subscription to continue. Pricing is shown in the app before you pay.
How do refunds work?
For purchases made on iOS, Apple's refund policy applies — you can request a refund via reportaproblem.apple.com. For Android, Google Play's policy applies. For web purchases, contact us at support@getmariage.app.
