What Mariage is — and is not

Mariage is an AI-powered food and wine pairing recommendation service. We are not a food business operator, caterer, nutritionist, dietitian, or allergen advisory service. We do not sell, prepare, inspect, or accept any responsibility for any food or drink you consume.

How our AI works

Our AI reads the text of menus — extracted from photographs or typed input — to suggest food and wine pairings. This process involves:

Optical character recognition (OCR) that may contain errors or misread dish names
AI interpretation that may misunderstand dish descriptions or ingredients
No verification of actual ingredients or preparation methods used by the restaurant
No knowledge of how dishes are prepared on any given day, or any substitutions made in the kitchen

We do not know what ingredients are in any dish. We cannot tell you whether a dish is safe to eat.

If you have a food allergy

Do not rely on Mariage as confirmation that any dish is safe for you. Our recommendations are for pairing purposes only.

Always speak directly with the restaurant about your specific allergen requirements before ordering.

Ask for a staff member with allergen training. Under UK law, restaurants must provide allergen information on request.

If in doubt, do not eat the dish. Your safety is more important than any pairing suggestion.

Under UK law (the Food Information Regulations 2014), restaurants must tell you if any of these allergens are present in their dishes. This is the restaurant's obligation — not Mariage's.
